	媒體社會學(SOPS344) 課程概要

	中文概要
	本課程的重點是理論思考方式作導引式的綜論。依探討的主題可區分為：語言、影像、公共領域三大部分。語言部分著重介紹索緒爾的符號學；影像部分著重班雅明的媒體美學、布希亞的模像論與德勒茲的影像理論；公共領域部分著重對媒體與傳播的基本概念、基本問題取向及各種主要介紹批判理論的傳統、哈伯瑪斯的公共領域概念、Bourdieu的電視論述。每學期更換不同的探討主題。另外，隨著網路社會的崛起，麥克魯漢的媒體理論在英美學界重新得到高度重視，故亦列為授課重點。
	英文概要
	This course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of media and communication, to investigate the important theoretical approaches in the theory of media. The main themes can be divided into three parts: language, image and the public sphere. The part on languaga would focus on the semiology of Saussure. The part on image should include the media-aesthetics of Walter Benjamin, the theory of simulation of Jean Baudrillard and the philosophical discourse on image-movement of Deleuze. The part of public sphere would review the theoretical tradition of the Critical Theory, especially Adorno, and the path-breaking discussion on the public sphere of Habermas. Besides, along with the emergence of the internet society, the media thinking of Marshall McLuhan, being ?rediscovered“ by the american communication studies, would be also the focus of the course.
